Dear Parents, Guardians, and Members of Mohawk Primary Center
Subject: Addressing a Recent Incident of Concern
As the principal of Mohawk Primary Center, it is important that I inform the community that the primary commitment of our school is to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. The survey that is posted on Facebook was not sanctioned or approved by the Board of Education or the administration. We, therefore, apologize for this communication. Black history remains an integral part of our curriculum and involves all students. As our year progresses, we welcome all community members to attend and participate in our Black History Program and all other events.

There will be a 9:25 AM late start for all students Tuesday, May 30th, through the last day of school on Monday, June 5th. Bus routes will start one hour later than usual. Doors will open at 8:55 AM for breakfast.

Mrs. Hybert's Kindergarteners enjoyed a pizza and slime party today for bringing in the most food items during our April Food Drive. They were very creative with their slime (and even made some sight words with their slime).

Mrs. Hybert's Kindergarten students enjoyed outdoor education today in various STEAM learning centers.
Congratulations to all of our third grade Spelling Bee participants; they did an outstanding job. Mohawk's Spelling Bee winners are: 1st Place (Delilah); 2nd Place (Sumayyah); and 3rd Place (Amyiah).
Shout out to all of Mohawk's students who have been diligently working on creative STEAM projects through CAPE (Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education) program. Thank you to all of the families who came out to our walkthrough event this evening.
Mrs. Nave's third grade students celebrated Star Wars Day today by making light sabers and baby Yoda ears, and participating in Cosmic Kids' Star Wars Yoga! #MayThe4thBeWithYou

Thank you to Mrs. Phelps and Barack Obama School of Leadership & STEM for hosting Mohawk's third grade students this morning for Step-Up Day! The students thoroughly enjoyed seeing their new school and interacting with other students and staff.
Mohawk's Science Fair, Part 2 of 2...All of our students (and teachers) did an outstanding job on their class (K-2) and individual (3rd grade) science fair projects. They learned about and applied the scientific method and discovered new things! Congratulations to our 3rd grade winners: I'Yahna, Katelynn, & Angel S. (1st Place); Payton, Noah, & Aniyah (2nd Place); and Mason, Kaidyn, & Elijah (3rd Place). Job well done to all!
