The Barack Obama School of Leadership and STEM proudly welcomed ABC7 and Fox 32 News to showcase our thriving student-run Farmers’ Market. Through our horticulture program, students cultivate five on-campus gardens, learning everything from seed planting and harvesting to cost analysis and marketing.
Superintendent Dr. Ericka Patterson emphasized that this hands-on experience builds leadership skills while addressing real-world issues, such as food deserts. Students not only sell their produce at the weekly market but also share harvests with neighbors in need, turning classrooms into lessons of patience, resilience, and community service.
We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating innovation, leadership, and generosity, and for earning recognition for their outstanding work!
