Good morning School District 163 Families,

We are excited to offer an agriculture pathway for next year’s 7th and 8th grade students!  This will allow select students to travel to Barack Obama School to work with Ms. Herschberger to learn about Agriculture, Food Production, and Natural Resource Management, requiring skills in Engineering and Technology.  Participating in this program could lead to high school credit while still in junior high.

We would like to offer students the opportunity to participate with Ms. Herschberger at Barack Obama School and learn more about the program.  Students will work outside helping to redesign the front of the school building including planting vegetable and flower gardens.  If your child is interested in participating, please click this linkhttps://calendly.com/pfchsd163/6th-7th-grade-agriculture-w-ms-herschberger to sign up from 3:30-5:30 PM beginning May 10th.  Children can sign up for as many days as they’d like.  Masks must be worn, and social distancing will be honored.  Parents must drop off and pick up their children.

 Projects will include:

Designing the layout for the new front gardens

Wheelbarrowing soil to the gardens

Planting seeds, bushes, flowers, and vegetable transplants

Laying new stones for paths

Helping raise the student painted stones in the pollinator garden

Finishing assembling the new shed
