Dear Parents and Guardians,

On April 8, 2024, there will be a rare opportunity for students to view a solar eclipse. This even presents a unique educational opportunity for our students to learn about astronomy and the science behind solar eclipses. Children must use special eclipse safety glasses or viewers at all times during the partial phases of the eclipse. The school will provide glasses to each student. In addition, students will participate in various activities while being supervised by school staff. Please ensure that children dress appropriately for the day’s events. We will be outside for many activities. If you do not want your child to participate in the Solar Eclipse for any reason, you may opt out by completing the attached form and returning it to your child’s teacher no later than Friday, April 5, 2024. Parents who would like to attend the solar eclipse should contact their school’s principal. We look forward to all students participating in the viewing and activities of the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024!

Thank you, Dr. Joyce Carmine, Interim Superintendent 21st Century School
