Barack Scholars are prepared to tackle the IAR tests - March 20 - 31, 2023. We will have a Spirit Week the first week of testing. We want everyone to focus on completing tests successfully while demonstrating school spirit and PRIDE!!
Each of our scholars received books today to add to their home libraries. We participated in the Books Are Fun program! They are so excited to read!!
Today is International SEL Day. As a school we are focusing on Self Awareness and Relationship Skills with our school wide activity today. We are working on not putting people in boxes.
When we put people in boxes, we limit who they are. We group them with some attribute that limits their humanity, their intrinsic greatness, their ability to deliver their special abilities to the world. We think that the world should look and act as we think it should because our version is right and theirs is wrong.
This was a powerful lesson for our scholars today!

Our X-steam black history program will start at approximately 4:30pm at Michelle Obama. We cannot wait to see all of your faces. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Mr. Hill. Enter through door 13.

Barack Route 1 XSTEAM students will need to be picked up today. As we have been notified by kickert that their is a shortage of drivers an no one to drive the route. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. All students should be picked up by 5:15pm.
Route 1 students who did not get picked up will ride on a shared route with bus 3. The bus has left the building.
Barack Route 1 XSTEAM students will need to be picked up from the Xsteam program this evening. Sorry for the inconvenience as we have a bus shortage per kickert. We have rehearsal for our black history program today after school as well. So parents if you can pick students up by 5:15 that would be great. Again sorry for the inconvenience.

This is a reminder there will be no school Monday, February 20th in observance of President's Day. School will resume on Tuesday, February 21st.
As an added safety measure, all scholars are receiving clear bookbags. Please refer to the letter and flyer that was emailed to you Thursday morning. Thank you to the Board of Education and Superintendent for the bookbags.
On Friday, February 17, 2023 we shall travel to Michelle to practice for our Black History program. Friday, February 24, 2023 Barack X-STEAM students will be bussed to Michelle at 3:30 pm to prepare for our Black History program. Students will need to be picked up at Michelle Obama at regular dismissal time. For those who ride the bus they will get on the bus from Michelle Obama as no one will be at Barack. Please go to door #13 when you arrive to pick up students. I am sending permission slip's home with each student tonight that must be returned tomorrow morning signed so that all student can attend X-STEAM Tomorrow and travel to Michelle. If the permission slip is not returned tomorrow morning your student cannot attend X-STEAM as we cannot bus students unless permission is given. Attached you will find a visual of what your student will be bringing home. Thank you for your support and assistance in making our Black History program a success.I look forward to seeing you all at our Black History program.
