Principal's Letter

  • blackhawk
Dear Parents and Guardians of Blackhawk Primary Center Students,
It is hard to believe that the summer is coming to a rapid close and the hustle and bustle of a new school year is fast approaching. With this reality brings a great deal of excitement and anticipation for the changes that the new school year brings. On that note I would like to welcome all new and returning families to the Blackhawk Primary Family and introduce myself as Dr. Erika Johnson, the new principal of Blackhawk Primary Center. Although new to Blackhawk, I am not new to the School District 163 family where I have had the pleasure to serve the families of Park Forest and Chicago Heights for the past 10 years. I am anxious to get to know the Blackhawk Families and build relationships with you as we embark on new and exciting journeys this school year.
This year you can expect your students to be challenged to think critically in all subject areas, to develop their character in ways that contribute to a society of individuals who care about their others, and to analyze and question information daily. You might think that sounds like a lot to accomplish at the tender ages of five through nine, but if we don’t start now, then when??? To that end, our staff is resting up and getting ready for a journey with young minds that is sure to produce scholars of tomorrow. Parents are you up for the challenge of the new school year?”
I am excited to be a part of the Blackhawk family and to lead our staff and students to new heights. Additionally, I am grateful to be entrusted with your children each day. As a parent of two daughters, I know the worries that come with sending our children to school to grow up and be great in society. Thank you for entrusting me with the task and feel free to contact me at your convenience. My door is always open and I can be reached at 708-668-9501 or Continue to help your students complete their summer packets and enjoy the remainder of your summer. I look forward to seeing each of you on August 24, 2017.
