I know that our scholars have had a summer of fun and excitement. Our staff is prepared to welcome them to a new and exciting school year. As we begin the new school year, we plan on continuing to focus on kindness, accelerated vocabulary, making math matter, and using our Superhero theme to enhance writing skills and student thinking. I deem it a privilege and an honor to be the principal of a team of dedicated educators who are here on a daily basis to encourage student growth and development. Conversely, I am proud of our students who enter the building daily ready to learn and share their enthusiasm for learning. I am also thankful for our parents who bring their scholars to school on a daily basis affording us the opportunity to work with them to build a strong educational foundation. Our goal is for your child to flourish academically. 21st Century Primary Center provides a positive and welcoming environment in which your scholars will be nurtured, as they develop the building blocks for higher order thinking and learning. We welcome you as a partner in your child’s learning and hope you will become a familiar face at 21st Century.
The everyday lives of our youth are more technologically based than ever before. Children spend 95 percent of their time interacting with some type of technology. This year, 3rd grade students throughout the district will have daily access to one to one Chromebooks. This will afford third graders the opportunity to have technology at their fingertips consistently.
We would like to introduce a few new faces to 21st Century this year: Mr. Steve Jackson, is our new building secretary, and Mrs. Shaunita Jones, is the new district secretary. New to our teaching staff is Ms. Tianna Douthitt in 2nd grade, Ms. Stephanie Furlong, and Mrs. Jennifer Sylvester, are our 3rd grade teachers. Ms. Christine Putlak is our new Music teacher, Mr. Marque Riley is our new P.E. teacher, Ms. Brittney Hughes is our new building assistant for discipline, and Ms. Sams, while not a new face will now be our 21st Century Math Coach. Please welcome them warmly to the 21st Century family, or at least to their new positions within the family.
Finally, please remember that we will be hosting a back to school fun day in September, but to attend all scholars must return their completed summer packets on the first day of school attendance. Please mark your calendar’s for our Student/Teacher Showcase (Open House). On Thursday, September 13th at 6:00 p.m. Not only will you have the opportunity to see a snippet of your scholar’s day, you will get to experience the school day the way your child does. We will also have visitors from the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and a few other fun surprises. We look forward to seeing you there.
