Welcome to the challenge of a new school
year and another opportunity to help students reach the highest level of
their potential academically, behaviorally and socially.
Forest Trail staff is committed to instilling in our
students the desire to learn and succeed. Our high expectations for
students are reflected in a rigorous curriculum. Additionally, staff is
skilled in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
(PBIS) program served us well last year. This positive proactive approach
to managing student behavior improved our school climate. By teaching and rewarding appropriate
behavior more time will be spent focusing on academics. Each school year we revisit the program to ensure that it
best meets the needs of our students.
Because Forest Trail staff realizes that middle
school is a time of social awareness, we offer many after school extra
curricular clubs and sports activities. Participation in these help
students develop leadership skills and learn to work cooperatively with
others.
We encourage parents to stay involved in their
child’s education and work collaboratively with Forest Trail staff to
provide students with the skills necessary to become productive,
responsible, and caring contributors to society. We hope that this will be your best school year ever.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carolyn Stroud and Karon A. Nolen
