Welcome to Blackhawk Intermediate School, home of the Blackhawk Bulldogs, where we recognize and celebrate the diversity of our student population. At Blackhawk Intermediate, we believe in a “TEAM” philosophy, “Together Everyone Achieves More”, and we further believe, that “All Students Want To And Can Learn”. Our staff is committed and dedicated to meet the needs of all students.

Our school improvement goals will focus on reading, math, writing, and student behavior. In the area of reading, we are asking parents to join with students in reading at least one hour a day at home. With the use of the computer, parents can assist students by visiting the ISBE website to download practice ISAT math and reading tests, and writing prompts. Copies can also be requested from the school.

Additionally, we expect students to do and be the best they can be. We have implemented a school wide behavior plan. Students are being taught how to demonstrate appropriate behaviors, such as:

· Following directions the first time given.

· Be respectful of yourself, others, and property.

· Keep hands, feet, objects, and unkind words to yourself.

· Be responsible for yourself and your actions.

We invite you to join us for parent teacher conferences on November 9^th and 10th. Please contact your child’s teacher to set an appointment (708) 668-9500. We will send information home weekly, on Fridays regarding upcoming events.

Finally, we look forward to having a great year at Blackhawk Intermediate School.
